I've just ordered with a few friends some rubber boots from miniprix, a very cheap brand which I think you all know. I am aware that many people consider thse boots to be ugly, but I think that with the right accesorries they can work like so much fun :D

I've recently read an amazing book called "Four women, four stories". It's written in Romanian by Aurora Liiceanu and I have no idea if it has been translated in other languages. It briefly shows the life stories of these women, in the light of each one's great life passion. The passions are: power, money, love and adventure. These women are Coco Chanel, Elizaveta Bagreana (one of the biggest Bulgarian lady poets), Cecilia Cutescu-Stork (famous Romanian painter) and Lee Miller (American photographer). It's great to see how big personalities in their field have been motivated through their entire lives by a strong desire that they couldn't fight. I also like the fact that the author gives the impression of objectivity, showing no mercy or despise towards them.

If you speak Romanian, I strongly recommend it, it's absolutely great.

However, for my international readers, I want to recommend another book, that I have just started, but seems awesome as well. It's "Chanel and Her World" by Edmonde Charles-Roux (original language french). I like the thing that it gives the impression of being very well documented, but still in a narrative form and shows probably all the publicly known details about her life, in 634 pages. This one I'm sure it has been translated in English, since I have it in Romanian (the Romanian name of the book is "Coco Chanel")...

They're having some sales at Sephora right now and so I went there to see what I could get. As I didn't really need anything I just bought 4 nail polishes and a nude lip pencil. I got the polishes very cheap, they we're reduced from 4.5 euro to 1 euro.

Well, anyway, she was an amazing actress since 1914 all the way through the 20's and early 30's. Her greatest movie appearance was in 1950 in "Sunset Boulevard", also known as the best movie ever made about Hollywood. :x

How I miss those glamorous days when wearing fur and exuberant jewellery was amazing and the stars didn't had to be eco and go around in jeans carrying their Starbucks.

My love from Marilyn Monroe it's so deep, I can't put it in words. There is no other star, or icon, called it however you want that has that kind of impact on me. And what I love most about her it's not the surface, the beauty and glamor, but, more important, the person that she was. I have read a lot about her and her life, hopefully I was able to believe what was true and dismiss the lies and I'm so fascinated with her...

I'm a blond now!!! I cut my hair , it's short in a bob style and I dyed it blond. It's kind of yellow right now because it was hard to get the right color in the first try, as my hair it's pretty orange by nature so... I'll have to wait a little while and then dye it again. But it doesn't matter, cause now I feel a little bit more like Marilyn Monroe!! :D:D:D

A sweet Saturday recipe

Look what I baked! A while back I did some cupcakes, with a personal recipe of icing: white chocolate ganache (white chocolate and butter cream). They were a total succes!

Recipe:
For the muffins: 140 grams of butter
140 grams brown sugar
3 eggs
100 grams flour
25 grams of starch
You just mix them all together and bake for about 25-30 minutes. EXTRA EASY! (this recipe turns out great just by itself, it doesn't necessarily needs icing)

For the icing: half butter / half melted white chocolate, according to how much you want to get. I also added a little bit of red color to make them look pink :D
Melt the butter and the chocolate (they shouldn't turn liquid) and mix them together, then add the color. After keeping it in the fridge for about 20-30 minutes, it'll be hard and good to go.

I just love the make-up at Christian Dior in the last collection. I wasn't blown away by the clothes as I usually am, sorry John! But the colorful pin-up was so refreshing and it just gives you good energy by looking at it. I'm always a fool for bright colorful things.

Hy, I wanted to show you a look I had on 2 nights ago. It's pretty bright and joyful, I was probably thinking of the happy summer days. (Although this year it was horribly hot here in Romania...)

So I did this with the 120 and I don't recomend doing it without a primer, like I did that night, cause it will fade away. But if you have these color from higher end brands or use a good primer, they should stick very well :)

My skin is to glowy cause I'm still on the summer mode of no powder. That has to change!!

First of all I have to say that browsing through the latest collections has made my days so much brighter. It's such a thrill!

Now, the people that have been reading my blog since its beginnings know that one of my fav designer ever is Alberta Ferretti. I just fall in love with her again and again.
It's amazing how much fantasy, happiness and dreaming she can put into her clothing and make then ethereal.
I totally adore every dress, every blouse, each color and material....

I think that's what angels wear and I wanna spend eternity in an AF gown...

I was actually rather disappointed.. I think, you expect from such an amazing and notorious brand to bring on something exiting every time. And I just didn't felt that.

I finally went to see it! And it BLEW MY MIND AWAY! I have to say that I have always been a huge fan of the series and of the first movie and until this moment I have not read any other reviews anywhere.
But it was amazing! All the clothes, shoes, jewelry! And the humor, it was magnificent!
We all knew it would be a happy ending, but I'm sure nobody was expecting such interesting turn of situations until the end! I loved the views, I loved Samantha, as always and I just adored everything else. I heard from somody it had bad review, but I don't care abote any bad review, because for me it was great!
There are not many movie that can get my full attention so that I don't want to miss any detail or line, but this was one of them!!

I also loved the fact that Miranda got to have such amazing outfits in this movie, compared to the other one and the series. Loved her dress at the gay wedding, it killed me, but I didn't find it on the Internet. It must be somewhere, but I didn't had patience enough to search for it...:P

Super funny !! And arriving in NY in 1986??? I wasn't even born until 1987 !! :)) And I'm sure that for many of you, your parents didn't even knew each other in '86 :P

It's been too long!! - Summer make up

I haven't posted something in like...forever! I have been away from blogging lately, because I was busy with other stuff but now I'm back with a brand new make up look. I've photographed every step so that anyone interested in doing this look can go ahead and do it!
It is a simple summer look, basically yellow and blue, with a little purple to it :) I haven't contoured my brows because I don't like products on my brows in the summer. I sweat and it's gets nasty :))

Have a fun day!

First apply a strong yellow in the inner corner all the way to the brow and going also in the crease. I used a color from the 88 palette.

Second apply a turquoise blue in the outer corner, in a C shape. The shadow above will blend with the yellow and create the impresion of green. I used Avon Precision Glimmer in Golden Turquoise

Then apply a highlight color on the brow bone and in the inner corner. I used Seventeen Silky Shadow High Pearl in Sea Silver

Apply mascara and a bronzer to the cheaks and this is it :D I used Maybelline Collosal and a the Avon bronzing pearls with a bit of Seventeen Silky Blush in Plum Appricot.

It is amazing! Thank you again Mr. Lagerfeld for creating such amazing trends for us! For keeping the print on the spotlight, for the happy pastels, for the amount of pink used, for the 90's air that I kind of felt in those strapy sandals and here and there in the dress shapes. I'm not into the cowboy inspired look that they showed at the end and I don't really feel the comeback of the blue denim, but I surely loved to see Georgia May Jagger, she is such a doll!!

There's no way I'll get a piece of these beauties, but I can always steel the model and have it done :)) Or at least take inspiration, hope you also do!!!

These are some pictures of a look I did yesterday, with the help of my new Remington Pro Spiral Curls. It was a one of the gifts I received for my birthday and I was so happy for it. Look how good they look! The make up was a very simple light/dark green.

I felt very good dressed like that, I felt a little slimmer than I actually am , haha:))) And I absolutely love these earrings, I know they're everywhere lately, but I still love them :D

Hy. I was MIA since Tuesday because we had a weekend vacation and I was out of town with no Internet. We went to Vama Veche, that's a little village by the sea shore , well known in Romania for the place to have fun if you like good music. It used to be the it place for rockers back in the day, now you can here many music genders there, but it's still great. It was so much fun, too bad it was for such a short amount of time.

Today it's also an important day since I was born 23 years ago . Yes lovelies, it is my birthday. :D I feel very tired already, but I have to prepare for the evening too.

Hy! I'm so exited because I found a great website that has the most gorgeous and fashionable affordable jewelry. I found out about it from one of my fav youtube guru's videos, it's Pixiwoo, they're 2 sisters from UK, professionally trained make up artists that have great make up tutorials and a new channel, Pixiwoo Madness about their lives. I feel a little guilty for being a bad blogger lately, but unfortunately this happened because of some very important personal problems. Saturday night my bf's dog died and you can imagine how that was. It was very hard on me because I was with his until the last moment. I had this make up on a few days ago and I just loved the colors. It's not perfectly blended because I didn't had much time and it wasn't a special occasion or smth, but I just loved those colors!! And they were so shiny too :D:D Hope you'll like it! The colors I used are from the 120 palette. A new make up and the 40 beauty questions

I will post my answers below. They're now very exciting, mostly because we don't have professional companies of make up selling here or at least I don't have access to it, so most of my products are low end. Especially because my mom sells Avon and I get all the products for free :D yey!!

Also I've posted a few pictures from today, we went to my bf's grandma because she was sanctifying the house, it's an Orthodox ritual, I don't really know how to translate it in English.

I took on a make up trend that everybody was showing this spring, the one with a wing at the outer corner of the eye, it was very subtle since it was a day time make up, in a neutral color (warm brown), but I will also be posting a more dramatic take on it, in a few days!

I wanted to have a picture my whole outfit but we were to busy and I didn't find the time to do it :(

This is super easy to do, in the outer part of the lid I applied black eye liner and layered the color. I applied the same color on the inner part and it turned out lighter because I have no eye liner there ;)

2 nights ago we went out with some friends for drinks and playing ping pong . I suck at it, but it's so much fun! I wore an outfit that included one of my bf's shirts. Plus red lips! It was hot! :))

I was browsing mangoshop.com, since I'm staying at home, jobless, taking care of my bf's dog...My greatest thrill in life... And I am at least dreaming of the summer to come already so that I can wear something like this dresses, or even one of them. I am totally in love with florals! This trend is great! I cannot affor looking into some other nice stores online because we don't have many of them here in Constanta and most of the great stores don't deliver to Romania (like Forever 21, topshop, h&m....) Yeah... Do I live in the middle of nowhere or what?...

a simple blue make up

Hy, I'm posting picture of a very simple and easy make up with blue eyeshadow. You you're a make up addict like me and you're browsing all day long the Internet for make up info you might know that it's one of the biggest challenges to apply blue eye shadow and don't look over done or not flawless, etc. This is my simple blue make up, I just applied a very good make up base and then the blue with a little tiny amount of black on the outer corners and white in the inner corners and the brow bone, to give it dimension. I used a light pink blush and a nude lip gloss.

Of course it can be done in any kind of blue shade but I did it with a kind of cobalt blue, to match my blouse. Check out the message on it :))

A day in the park

The other day we went in the park with Luck (Skywalker), my bf's dog. He's the laziest and stinkiest dog alive! Sometimes I hate his ass, but all in all he's a cute dog and he's never bitten anybody! A few days ago, when I was browsing style.com and looking (drawling...) over the Dolce and Gabbana collection I thought: I have to blog this! Ok....and then!!! Next thing you know, it's all over the place, everybody's talking about it, it is huge, right? I'm not the only one that loved it!

I loved the thing that they put the "underwear as outerwear" trend out there for good! (I secretly hope that I'll live through the day when people will be walking along the streets naked and it will be normal, just for the fun of it, so this is an important step :)) ) I loved the thing that they combined the 2 materials we knew were coming for this summer: velvet and lace! And I loved those little purses that looked like coin little bags!!So sweet!

It was such a beautiful and really wearable way of showing the sexy working woman that can handle the coolest clothes!

THE PLATFORM, that is!
And if you remember their spring 2009 RTW collection, you also remember the almost imposible way of walking in those super high platform shoes. Now it apears it's all over. And you know that when Prada is doing it, it won't be long until everybody's going to do it. It happened with the platform, with lace, with underwear as outerwear, etc.

Nevermind the whole air of the collection, a kind of 30 years old office post secretary meets the '70 librarian (this is the vibe it gives me) , the important thing is that soon enough we will lose the platform. I really can't tell if this is good or not, but it's certaily important. We've seen it before in other designers collections, but in a more shy way.

So here are a few of my favorite shoes they presented. (I love the fact that they consolidated the sock + sandal look!)

I heart Alberta Ferretti !

Ever since I started browsing through the fashion world I had a thing for Alberta Ferretti's designs. I love them because they're always feminine in a non cheesy way, they look very seductive, but non cheap sexy, the materials look very comfortable an the color choice is so sophisticated. It's classical elegance without using excessive black. But rather interesting use of beige, turquoise, blue, some light gold.

These collection was astonishing when looking at the sheer dresses that made the models look like they were a Shakespearean fantasy... Like an ode to the idea of women... And still wearable! Those coat are so ready-to-wear! Plus an A+ for loosing the platform!

And the fabrics are also so inspiring! A lot of faux fur, a lot of chiffon, don't you just love this combination?

It is my favorite collection yet, not because it sets some undeniable trends or it's cutting edge, but just because those clothes make me feel so goo when looking at them. Obviously, I don't afford an A.F. piece, but...a girl can only dream!....

Red lips - hot or not?

You might have noticed the big amount of red lips on runways these days. They're already very present in the looks and tutorials of make up artists on youtube and the blogging world and as I see it, it's a big trend of reintroducing the classic red lip as well as the lipstick instead of lip gloss. This is a strong move over at Chanel, they're making big efforts with the new lipstick line to teach women that lipstick it's the feminine , classy, sexy way to do lips.

But do we follow make up trends like we follow clothing trends? Do you? Or do you just wear the make up that looks good on you? Is the red lip something you'll be wearing in the following autumn / winter ?

P.S. Plus what's up with the "no eyebrows" trend? That appears to be everywhere and frankly, I don't like it! Is it suppose to send some kind of cultural message about people nowadays? Will we be the no eyebrow generation in the eyes of the up comming generations ? :)))

Hy, so here is my Sunday outfit, we went to another city (Tulcea) to visit the Danube Aquarium, it's a very nice museum actually, with both animals and fish from the Danube Delta and a few other places.

I didn't meant to post it at first because I don't think my outfit it's very fashionable, but rather fun instead! I love it anyway, I was feeling a bit of that Kandee (Johnson) spirit and I just went for pink!

This is such a lovely creature, it doesn't live in our sea or in the Danube, I think it lives in the Ocean, isn't it gorgeous?

A review of NY FW

A little oppinion on what I've seen on the catwalks these few weeks. It seems like blue is the new red (even though we did had some amazing red pieces) and nude is the new black.Don't you think? Everybody it's crazy about that electric blue and the nude, beige, earthy (autumnly...) colors are every where.There's also the print issue, that is: you either go with bold print or non at all. They're still playing with geometry a lot,a lot of interesting volums, a lot of shapes.

The tights are still hot (which is great in my oppinion!) with their little sister,the high socks. A little surprizing for me is the fact that platforms are not going anywhere in 2010, while some of the predictions were that we'll slowely go back to the kitten heel. Not for the moment, no. Dresses and skirts are still, most of the times, very short (yey!) or very long. But I think the idea is to play with texture, play with very bold colors and mix them with the nudes and the black, don't be afraid of original shapes,don't be afraid of volume and hights.

I especially liked Betsey Johnson and Lacoste. You might wonder: what do they have in common? I'll tell you what: the models smiled! Yes people, real models actually smiling on the catwalk. Don't know about you, but that is so refreshing for me when I see it! It's lovely to look at someone in fabulous clothes smiling,not looking angry like hell :))

I also loved the Naeem Khan collection. It was fabulous! The materials were so rich, so luxurious, it was like a night at the palace :D

So many of you know that I'm a big fan of colorful make up.I'm planning on doing a more developed post about this subject, but for the moment I'm just uploading the looks I had on on Saturday (when we went bowling - no one can suck more at bowling that I do) and on Sunday (for you know what ocassion, I don't want to write it again!)

Not another Valentine's day outfit

So this is what I wore on Friday evening, obviously not a Valentine's day outfit, but pretty pink :P

Today was fun, I enjoy this day, even if I feel I'm suffocated by all the promotions and the teddy bears and the candy....everything heart shaped !AAA!!!

I was never a very V day excited person, even if I wore in a relationship or if I weren't, but now I am so it's cool:P

Anyway, hope you guys have an awesome week to come and hope you spend today in a very fun way, no matter if you do it single, in couple, with family or friends, etc.:D

Wearing a skirt hand made by my bf's grandma for me, a Zara t-shirt, blazer gift from Spain, Jeniffer clutch and local brand shoes. I absolutely love this make up I did, the picture doesn't do it justice...

I just want to share my sorrow with the world of fashion. I feel something very similar to what I felt when I heard Michael (Jackson) died or when I found out about Brittany Murphy, it's so sad to see such a big talent going away...
And it's even more painful if he took his own life...Teaches us a lesson about fame, money, power, they're nothing at the end...

We can only be grateful that he shared his amazing talent with the world and that we are living in a McQueen influenced fashion world.

What will you wear?

So everybody from top designers to high and low end brands are crazy about prints right now. That's no news. We already know it. But as I was searching the web for clothes that I wish for I was thinking about posting some of the new in prints and see which one is the hottest.

Unfortunately for me, some of the brands below do not ship to Romania, so I'll have to find another similar option, but...that's life around here!...
Anyway, tell me what you think and what will be in for you this spring? Abstract prints, florals, dots, animal print, DYI, or what else?

Why do we hate the 90s fashion?

First of all I have to apologize for not posting so often lately, it's because I've been very busy with my exams and at work.

But, I was thinking to ask you all, why do you think everybody around the fashion world speaks so bad about the 90s fashion? In my opinion fashion it's a way of expressing the characteristics of a certain society at a certain moment, so if people were wearing big t-shirts and knee long denim pants of those electric silvers and neon colors it must have been because all aspects of life were making it happen. And now, that we can look at the 90s from the distance of another decade of (what we think it's) great fashion trends we say: "God, did I ever wear that? Oh, no!"

Well probably some of you didn't wear anything picked by you in the 90s because you were to small. I was born in 87 so I was very young also but I remember begging my mother to buy me some very short neon orange and yellow t-short that I would never wear now, but that look so cool at the time! Let's face it:it was the time of Nirvana, No doubt, Backstreet boys, ordering from Quelle magazine and getting the Rachel ("Friends") hair do! It was pretty fun!

I hope maybe we can get some answers from the older (and wiser) readers on this subject, the ones that lived through the 90s and tell us: is that bad fashion or is it just fashion that had it's life in it's given time ?

A rose like make up

Following one of the moments trends in make up, which is very natural looking eyebrows, or even almost absent eyebrows (on blonds maybe...), I did this make up that lose like a rose petal to me...

Unfortunately thou,the pictures doesn't do it justice because of my crappy camera that doesn't show the actual colors and details.. But I hope you'll like it...

It's a neutral look, with peachy pinks, lilacs and a touch of blueish magenta with beige highlight :) (excuse my red bf t-shirt, it had nothing to do with the look:)) )
